About BTS with Jess
BTS with Jess is produced, directed, edited and hosted by Jessica McCall, an emerging broadcaster and UniSA journalism student from Gawler, South Australia. Filmed by UniSA media students, the show spent 18 months in development before launching on Channel 44 Adelaide, Channel 31 Melbourne and CTV+. Each episode takes an in-depth look at young artists and their creative journeys, explores the value of youth arts, and highlights opportunities for teenagers to get involved in local arts communities.
Filmed on location across South Australia, each 30-minute episode focuses on a different arts event or topic, featuring youth artist interviews and stories about groups and programs where young people can participate. This year, a total of 117 guests were interviewed over 8 upcoming episodes, sharing their stories about how South Australia's youth arts community has impacted them.
BTS with Jess received three nominations at the 2025 Antenna Awards, which is commonly described as community TV's Logies. Jessica McCall was named Personality of the Year, the top individual honour at the Antenna Awards, and the most significant community television achievement to come out of Gawler.
